The Mass Casualty Kit (ERIC – Emergency Response Information Carrier) based on the same principles and foundation as MediButton® is in the mid-development stage. The devices are easily and quickly distributable to victims of a mass casualty event or evacuation. They are self-contained recording mechanisms that can be accessed (read/write) from a distance and can provide instant information concerning the individual wearing the device.

Each Kit will contain victim/evacuee devices and data transmitting devices that can be quickly affixed to PDA’s and/or laptop computers. Persons attending victims/evacuees will be able to record vital information concerning individual health, personal information such as name, and observations. Each device will also signal healthcare providers as to the individual’s immediate requirements (as noted in the field) such as ‘immediate medical transport/attention’, ‘medical transport as available’, ‘Evacuate’, etc.

ERIC development is a very important aspect to providing quick, timely, accurate response during disasters such as hurricanes or terrorist attacks. This program could be responsible for saving hundreds of lives and ensuring that families who become separated have the ability to find missing members.

ERIC is in the mid-development stage and our estimated timeline for commercial deployment is late 2007 to early 2008.

Disaster related events such as Katrina create the necessity to ensure a cost effective and efficient method of tracking victims during and after the confusion of such a disaster.
