This program will provide detailed current health information to healthcare providers in a very quick and easy manner. It is particularly helpful to First Responders who will be able to access information (via on-board PC’s or hand held PDA devices) that will assist them in providing emergency care to persons in life threatening situations. This is accomplished through the use of iButtons (which will be encased in a ‘jewelry like’ manner) that carry pertinent information concerning the bearer’s health. Accessible Information is:
  • Care giver information

  • Owner information including social security number, driver’s license number, insurance company, etc.

  • Identifying information such as picture, scars, birthmarks, etc.

  • Basic physical information – height, weight, blood type, etc.

  • Current medications

  • Medical history and procedures

  • Comments

  • Primary Contact information

Additionally, First Responders will be able to record on-site information such as pulse rate, blood pressure and actions taken. This information will then be available for the caregivers in hospitals or trauma centers.

MediButton basic development is complete and is ready for pilot testing in 2007. Commercial deployment is scheduled for 2007.

Accurate and accessible information is vital in emergency situations.
